Sustainability & Social Responsibility

In the 1990’s, global coffee prices reached an all time low because of surpluses in the market place. The resulting hardship for coffee farmers in developing countries has been well publicized and has highlighted the need to create “sustainability” within the coffee industry. The snowballing successes of organizations such as Transfair, Rainforest Alliance, and Utz Kapeh are encouraging to both those in the industry and consumers who wish to help the disadvantaged and foster economic growth in developing countries.

Because of the extra care we take in searching out the highest quality coffee, we typically pay far above average for the coffee we import. However, paying a fair price to farmers is only the beginning. We have also taken an aggressive approach in supporting social responsibility and sustainable development in the coffee industry.
