Kick Off the Holiday Season with Our Holiday Organic Blend
Every November, Reunion Island Coffee welcomes the holiday season by introducing our special holiday blend. Because of the overwhelming success of our 100% certified organic Holiday Blend last year, we decided to continue this tradition and offer this outstanding organic blend for the second year. This elegant blend is created using 100% certified organic coffees that have been handpicked from select highland estates. We roast this blend to a medium-dark Viennese color to add body and caramelized undertones. We are also pleased to announce that, like last year, 25 cents from each pound of our Holiday Blend sold will be donated to the non-profit organization Coffee Kids. This organization has helped thousands of children, women and men in coffee-producing regions around the world to improve the quality of their lives and build more sustainable communities. This truly is a coffee you can feel good about this holiday season. Our Holiday Blend will be featured until the end of December in whole bean, portion packages and single cup coffee pods (while supplies last). Please contact your Customer Service Representative or email Customer Service to order yours today and be sure to request your free POS kit.
Update on the Colombia Las Hermosas™ Project
The Las Hermosas™ project is an example of a grower-direct sustainability initiative. It started in 2004 when we discovered an exceptional Colombian coffee from a farming co-operative in the South Tolima region. To support this co-op, we have committed to donating to projects that improve the standard of living, while ensuring a consistent supply of world-class coffee for our customers. This year, Reunion Island has donated funds to help construct and improve school sanitation systems for children in villages in the south of Tolima. These funds helped to dramatically improve the conditions of 6 schools, for more than 700 students. Before: After: The installation of these new sanitation systems help protect local water sources and create a healthier school environment for these children. Enjoy the delicious aroma and smooth, bright flavor of Colombia Las Hermosas™ knowing that you are supporting sustainable coffee farming and contributing to projects that increase the quality of life for these coffee farmers and their families. In the News Recently, an article was written in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette questioning the poor quality of coffee sometimes served in fine restaurants. The journalist asks ‘why aren’t restaurants taking advantage of, or at least demonstrating an awareness of, an already educated public willing to pay extra for a quality cup?” and highlights the opportunity that better coffee offers restaurateurs.
